Worked examples
Model ItI do
The hour hand is just past 2 and the minute hand points to 6. What time is it?
The hour hand just past 2 means it is 2 something. The minute hand on the 6 means 30 minutes, because each number counts by 5 and 6 times 5 is 30. The time is 2:30.
Try It TogetherWe do
The minute hand points to the 3. How many minutes is that?
Each number on the clock is 5 minutes. Count by fives to the 3: 5, 10, 15. So the minute hand on the 3 means 15 minutes.
